Ana Fuentes New York Art Show
Do you mind if I exist is an art project curated by Jo Gamel. Four women artists from Philadelphia, Boston, Miami and Mexico. The New York show was presented in Project Parlor, a place originally conceived to be an outlet for the Pratt Institute Art students and community. The space went through several owners and now has again the intention of bringing artists and community together. I loved the decadent atmosphere resembling the tone I was looking for in my paintings. A construction-destruction equilibrium mostly achieved by time. History is alive in New York. Big wooded paneled walls, brass fixtures, the park on late autumn. So I spent the days prior to the show, walking through the Village, riding the train, staring at the Monets at the MOMA. Looking closely at the absolute abstraction that with distance turns into a pond, water lilies, rays of pink sun.
